Woman accused in Pa. child heat death will testify

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - March 17, 2010

Michael Mustokoff said in opening statements Tuesday that 47-year-old Rimma Shvartsman will testify in Bucks County Court about the death of 2-year-old Daniel Slutsky in July.

Mustokoff says a sleepless night prompted by a health scare caused Shvartsman to forget about the boy after driving him to the daycare center she ran in Penndel, about 20 miles northeast of Philadelphia.

Officials say the 29-pound toddler's body temperature was 108 degrees when he was found more than seven hours later.

Prosecutors say Shvartsman accepted responsibility for the boy's safety when she chose to pick him up that morning.
