Car crashes into Delaware elementary school

DOVER, Del. - March 24, 2010

Delaware State Police say 21-year-old Saintalia Jean drove her Suziki Grand Vitara into the Star Hill Elementary School shortly before 7:30 a.m.

Police say before the crash, Jean was said to be swerving in and out of both lanes on Voshells Mill Road. She then then drove over a curb and onto the school property before striking the school.

The car crashed into an unoccupied classroom

Due to the time of the crash, there were no students present.

Ms. Jean was the only occupant of the vehicle and was transported from the scene via ambulance to Kent General Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

She was properly restrained and alcohol was not a factor in this collision.

She was cited for Inattentive Driving, Unsafe Speed, and No Proof of Insurance.
