Eight sought after home invasions, kidnapping, shootout

COBBS CREEK - March 25, 2010

It all began in Yeadon, Delaware County. Police say two young men were lured to a home there for an attempted robbery. A 27-year-old was held there, police said, while an 18-year-old was taken to three homes in Philadelphia.

At those homes, police say the 18-year-old would be sent to the door while the others would barge in behind him, terrorizing the occupants and demanding money.

When the home invaders on the 500 block of South Redfield Street, bullets started flying and the 18-year-old managed to escape. He flagged down a police officer.

Fortunately no one was hit in the shootout. The suspects fled in a gray Pontiac, and police gave chase. However, officers called off the pursuit when it became too dangerous.

While all of this was going on, police say the 27-year-old was stuffed into the trunk of a car and driven all over the city until he was tossed out of the back of the car at the corner of Broad and Lehigh.

He was able to walk to Temple University Hospital where he is in stable condition. He is being treated for multiple stab wounds to the back.

Investigators say they are confident they will be able to round up all of the suspects.
