Police say 20-year-old Kortney Rose of Dagsboro was a passenger in a car driven by 23-year-old Jessica Forbes of Frankford.
The two were fighting around 2:40 a.m. Sunday near Dagsboro when police say Rose opened the passenger side door and tried to leap from the moving car. Forbes pulled Rose back into the car. She told police that Rose then grabbed the steering wheel, causing the car to run off the road and hit a utility pole. Rose was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are investigating to determine whether drugs or alcohol were involved. No charges have been filed.
