Officials say the flatbed tow truck slammed into the rear of a Mister Softee ice cream truck resulting in both vehicles catching fire.
Occupants of both vehicles, described only as 35 and 49-year-old men, were transported by medics to Hahnemann Hospital for treatment. The 35-year old man was stable and deemed a trauma transport.
The 49-year-old man was classified as a trauma alert with stable vitals.
As a result of the accident, all northbound lanes were shut down. Traffic was able to squeeze by on the shoulder and exit.
