Local survivor joins Oprah's No Phone Zone Day

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - April 30, 2010

Across the country, Oprah is joining forces with law enforcers and others in taking a stand against distracted driving.

It's a habit that kills nearly 6,000 Americans per year.

Case in point: Jacy Good of Allentown.

Jacy and her parents were driving along Route 222 in Berks County when their vehicle was involved a horrific crash two years ago.

The person responsible was using his cell phone.

Jacy suffered severe head injuries and her parents were killed.

On her show to air Friday, Oprah asks Jacy how the crash changed her life.

"It's been huge. I mean, learning how to walk again to trying to live a life with only one functioning arm and finding people to fill the shoes my parents filled," Jacy said.

Jacy says she still has years of surgery and rehab ahead of her, but her physical pain doesn't even approach the anguish of losing her mom and dad.
