Mrs. Fixit: Alternative Uses for Screens

May 09, 2010

If you have to sand some spackle, wrap some screen around a block of wood and use that to sand the area.

The screen won't get as gummed up as the paper and it will cut right through the spackle leaving a nice smooth surface for you to work on.

This same tip will work on a build up of paint on wood if you use a coarser screening material.

You can cut a circle out of some screening and let it settle down through an old can of paint, the screen will filter out any lumps so you can use the older paint and still get a flawless finish.

A piece of metal screening makes the perfect dirt sifter, put the screen over a bin or box and put the items on top.

The sand, dust or dirt will sift down through the screen leaving your clean items behind.

Just a few easy ideas on reusing screens. Try it, I'm Mrs. Fixit and it's just that simple!
