1 dead, 1 critical in Newark crash

NEWARK, Del. - May 23, 2010

The crash was discovered around 7:00 a.m. this morning.

Police say it appears the crash occurred when a Pontiac GrandAm was traveling north of DE 896 passing in front of the White Clay Creek State Park.

The vehicle was in a straightaway when the car began to lose control, slid sideways off the road on its roof, and struck a tree.

23-year-old Dareus Knight and 22-year-old Christopher Dorczuk, both from Oxford, Pa., were ejected from the vehicle.

Knight was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dorczuk was transported to Christiana Hospital unconscious.

The investigation is ongoing and troopers are trying to determine who was driving when the crash occurred.

It appears that men were wearing a seatbelts.

Alcohol is suspected in the crash.
