Cape Coral Hospital spokeswoman Karen Krieger would not say why McCready was taken to the hospital on Tuesday morning.
McCready surfaced in 1996 with the No. 1 hit, "Guys Do It All The Time," and a double-platinum album, "Ten Thousand Angels."
In recent years, she is better known for a tabloid life of domestic abuse, drug and DUI arrests. She was recently on the VH1 reality show "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew."
Her mother lives in Lee County on Florida's south-central Gulf coast.
