On the Net: A teen helps you go green

June 4, 2010

Not a problem anymore.

Sortuv.com has come up with a concept that makes finding what you want a whole lot easier. It lets you search by typing in for example, "a restaurant sortuv like Rouge." That way the search engine has a tangible example of what you are looking for.

Here's proof that your reputation is a very delicate thing. Unvarnished.com is a place where your fellow colleagues can write a review on your on job performance... anonymously. That means if a future employer is looking to cross check the references YOU provide, they can get it here. sometimes that's good, sometimes it isn't. If you're feeling really confident about your abilities, you can create your own profile and people can contribute to that profile when you ask them or as they feel necessary.

We all know we should go green but HOW do we go green. There are some pretty good instructors out there and one of them hasn't even finished high school.

Greenyouthmovement.com focuses on helping you understand how simple, everyday actions can help save the planet. What makes this site different? The founder was just 15-years-old when the site launched. We SKYPED with now 18-year-old Ally Maize. She is working to implement green living into schools' curriculum.

Ally told us, "I just think it's really important that the next generation is aware of what their environment is and that they are proactive and ready to change it."

Maize's mother Rochelle has been so inspired by her daughter's online work that she changed her career from regular real estate broker to eco-broker.

"I can go in and advise families on how to save and how to go green so she's made quite a difference in my life too," says Rochelle.
