Delaware State Police say 28-year-old Richard Green of Wilmington robbed an 83-year-old woman as she was walking to church Sunday at around 6:35 a.m.
Police say Green approached the woman in the parking lot of St. Mary Magdalen Church and forcibly removed the victim's purse then fled in a tan colored Toyota.
Later in the day, Green was taken into custody.
He was charged with robbery and was committed to the Department of Correction in default of $5,000 bail.
All of the woman's property was recovered except the money that was in the purse.
She was not injured during the incident.
