Former Del. coach indicted on rape charges

GEORGETOWN, Del. - June 9, 2010

Thirty-nine-year-old Thomas Ott, the former head football coach at Cape Henlopen High School, was indicted Monday on 53 counts, including rape, unlawful imprisonment, unlawful sexual contact, and continuous sexual abuse of a child.

Ott was recently released from a hospital and returned to prison after jumping off a building while out on bond in what authorities believe was a suicide attempt.

Ott, who in addition to coaching worked with special-education students, is charged with repeatedly raping a 16-year-old girl over a period dating to 2006.
