Pa. couple surprised to find fawn on porch

UNIONTOWN, Pa. - June 24, 2010

A young fawn was curled up on the welcome mat at Ed and Nancy Micher's South Union Township home on three recent occasions. Nancy Micher says she was shocked when the young deer first showed up June 12.

The couple lives in a wooded area where seeing lots of animals is common. But they say this is the first time a fawn has gotten this close.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission says it's common to see fawns this time of year and that humans should not have any contact with them. If you suspect a fawn has been abandoned or is staying in the same place for a long time, state officials encourage you to contact the game commission.
