The accident happened on the 200 block of Dupont Highway in New Castle.
Police say a car slammed into the back of a 1988 Honda Goldwing driven by Michael A. Harris, 52, of New Castle, Delaware.
The bike careened across the median and crashed, shattering into pieces.
The car's driver kept on going, leaving the biker to die.
Harris was pronounced dead at Christiana Hospital.
State Police are searching for a Saab with extensive front end damage.
