Man arrested for Bucks, MontCo robbery spree

WARMINSTER, Pa. - July 18, 2010

On July 16, 2010 at about 1:00 p.m. the Warminster Township Police responded to the Manhattan Bagel 477 East Countyline Road for a report of an armed robbery. Witnesses reported that the suspect entered the store and attempted to purchase a sandwich. When the employee opened the register the suspect pointed a small black revolver at the employee and took an undisclosed amount of cash from the cash register. The suspect fled the store and was not apprehended. The suspect was described as a white male, wearing sunglasses a striped polo shirt, brown pants, white sneakers and a black baseball cap and armed with a small black revolver handgun.

At about 6:00 p.m., the Warminster Township Police responded to the Yum Yum Donuts located at 500 West Street Road for an armed robbery. Witnesses reported that a suspect with a similar description to the Manhattan Bagel robbery entered the donut shop and attempted to purchase a drink. When the employee opened the register the suspect pointed a small black revolver at the employee and removed an undisclosed amount of cash from the register. Witnesses reported that the suspect fled in a maroon Ford van with a ladder rack on the roof. The suspect and the van were not located. No one was hurt in either robbery.

The Warminster Police received information that just prior to the Yum Yum Donuts robbery, two similar robberies were reported. Robberies were reported to have occurred at the Pier 1 Imports located at 801 Horsham Road in Montgomery Township and also the Tantopia Tanning Salon at 4279 Countyline Road in New Britain Township.

Witnesses to the robbery at Pier 1 Imports reported that the suspect purchased two scented oil diffusers and when the employee opened the register, the suspect pointed a small black revolver at the employee and removed the cash from the register. The suspect fled with the cash and the scented oil diffusers.

Witnesses to the Tanning Salon robbery reported that the suspect entered the salon and asked to purchase a gift certificate. The employee provided the suspect with the gift certificate and when the employee opened the register the suspect removed the cash from the register and fled with the cash and the gift certificate in a maroon van.

The description of the suspect in these robberies was similar to the descriptions provided by witnesses to the Manhattan Bagel and Yum Yum robberies. No one was hurt in these robberies.

The Warminster Police issued a bulletin via police radio for the maroon Ford van. At about 7:49 p.m. a Northampton Township patrol officer spotted a maroon Ford van on Almshouse Road in the Mallard Creek Shopping Center. The driver of the van was identified as Edward Schreiner, 25, of Lehigh Drive Richboro. A witness to the Yum Yum robbery positively identified Schreiner as the perpetrator. Schreiner was taken into custody without incident.

Detectives obtained search warrants for Schreiner's van and home. Detectives recovered a black baseball cap, the Pier 1 scented oil diffusers, the Tantopia gift certificate and .22 caliber ammunition from Schriener's van. As the result of a search of Schriener's home Detectives recovered a .22 caliber pistol, the striped polo shirt and brown pants worn during the robberies. The clothing was found in a bag hidden inside Schreiner's house along with approximately $300.00 cash.

Schreiner was charged with three counts of Robbery, Theft By Unlawful Taking or Disposition, Receiving Stolen Property, Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another and Possession of an Instrument of Crime. Schreiner was arraigned before MDJ Falcone and sent to Bucks County Prison in lieu of $750,000 bail. Charges in Montgomery County are pending.
