Philly restaurant founder returns with Frog Burger

PHILADELPHIA - July 20, 2010

Steve Poses closed his last Center City restaurant, The Commissary, almost two decades ago. But his creative juices never stopped flowing. He currently operates Frog Commissary Catering.

He now has a thriving catering business, and his Frog Commissary Cookbook remains a local favorite. Now Poses, joined by son, Noah, is back in a tent outside the Franklin Institute called Frog Burger (Frog Burger's Facebook page).

People familiar with Poses' no-holds-barred recipes may be surprised to know that the patties at Frog Burger are pretty straight-forward: 80% lean ground chuck from South Philly's Esposito's. But you can get one as the LOVE Burger with two grilled cheese sandwiches serving as the bun. The menu also includes simpler burgers and many other choices. Poses' son Noah actually created the LOVE Burger.

Frog Burger keeps him too busy to worry about the pressure of following in famous footsteps: If what I do is great, then so be it..."
