Fmr. foster child charged with attempted murder with hammer

WILMINGTON, Del. - July 23, 2010

Police were called to the unit block of West 39th Street Friday at around 8:20 a.m.

When they arrived, officers found a 78-year-old woman and a 58-year-old man unconscious and bleeding.

Both were transported to Christiana Hospital where they are listed n critical condition.

Police say both were beaten with a hammer.

Through interviews, Wilmington Police were able to identify a person of interest in the attack, 20-year-old Isaiah Walker, a former foster child of the victims.

About an hour after the incident was reported, Wilmington Police Officers observed the victim's vehicle near the area of 12th & Washington streets being driven by Walker.

Officers stopped the vehicle and placed Walker in custody without incident. Walker was then taken to the Wilmington Police Station.

Subsequently, Isaiah Walker was charged with Attempted Murder First Degree, Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the Commission of a Felony, Burglary First Degree, Theft of a Motor Vehicle and Non Compliance of Condition of Bail.

Walker had an active no contact order filed by one of the victims in May of 2009.

Currently, Wilmington Police Detectives are still investigating the incident.
