Philly cop charged with card counting

BENSALEM, Pa. - October 4, 2010

Authorities say John Gallagher was caught on Monday, September 27, with an electronic device he was using to count cards.

Officials with Parx tell Action News that floor managers and security cameras caught Gallagher in the act. Security escorted him off the Parx property and notified the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board and the Pennsylvania State Police. Gallagher has been banned from the property.

John McNesby, with the Fraternal Order of Police, said Gallagher retired from the Philadelphia Police force the day after he was caught. He had spent more than 30 years on the force.
