The competition began Friday at a field near Bridgeville and wraps up Sunday. Tens of thousands turned out for the spectacle which drew 80,000 last year, a record organizers say could be broken this year.
A variety of air cannons, catapults, human-powered devices and other launching mechanisms are competing this year. Last year's champions chunked their winning punkin more than 4,100 feet to take the title.
