Psychic wars: Charges issued in fortune teller feud

HORSHAM, Pa. - November 11, 2010

Self-described gypsy Jimmy "Cutty" George says he fears for his life and that of his family after Stephen Mitchell allegedly threatened his wife at gunpoint.

"He had a gun and he waved it to her. He said keep the kids off Street Road or I'm going to hurt you," George said.

George and his wife, Shirley Thompson, operate a psychic reading business on Meetinghouse Road in Horsham. The Mitchell's own a psychic shop on Street Road in Bensalem.

When Thompson's sons began advertising on Street road, George says Mitchell became enraged.

"If he wants to call it a psychic war, it's on him; I didn't think we had a psychic war," George said.

A woman claiming to be Stephen Mitchell's wife tells Action News the allegations are completely false, but wouldn't be more specific.

Horsham police say they do have questions regarding their legitimacy.

Coincidentally, George admits he's currently charged with a similar crime in Egg Harbor.

He's accused of threatening a fortune teller there at gunpoint, but he too, denies the allegations.

"I just think he's trying to make a name for himself, trying to be the big man for the Mitchells," George said.

Mitchell is charged with assault, unlawful restraint, terroristic threats and other related charges.
