Man dies a week after Old City shooting

OLD CITY - March 1, 2011

Scoey Potter, 33, was pronounced dead at 4:48 p.m. on Monday, a little more than a week after the shooting outside the Bleu Martini Lounge in the unit block of S. 2nd Street.

Potter's brother, 29-year-old Jermaine, was shot three times in the abdomen and is still hospitalized.

Police have had 27-year-old James Thompson in custody since the night of the shootings. He has been charged with aggravated assault and attempted murder, however those charges may be upgraded following Scoey Potter's death.

Thompson was spotted running from the scene following the shootings. Police say he was arrested a short time later, with a gun still in his possession.

According to Central Detectives, the brothers were involved in a dispute inside the bar prior to the shooting.
