A grease fire broke out shortly before 6:00 p.m. at the Houlihan's located along the 500 block of City Avenue in Bala Cynwyd.
Fire officials say the fire escalated to extra alarm status because flames entered into the duct work which made it difficult to get a quick handle on.
It took crews about an hour to quell the fire, but the restaurant is likely to be closed for the better part of a week for repairs.
A female patron suffered minor smoke inhalation and was treated by medics at the scene.
