Suspect sought in attempted robbery of Del. hotel

Police are looking for the man who tried to pull off an armed robbery at a Howard Johnson's hotel over the weekend in Newark, Delaware.

It happened shortly before 11:00 p.m. Saturday at the hotel located at 1119 South College Avenue.

The suspect entered the lobby, pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded cash. However, the clerk fled into a back office and the bandit fled without getting any money.

The suspect was last seen fleeing into an interior hallway of the Howard Johnson's.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5'8" to 6'1" tall, wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt with the hood up and a white scarf covering his face. The suspect was also wearing white socks over his hands and had an unknown dark colored apron or shirt draped around his waist.
