Abandoned dogs saved from heat in NJ home

PATERSON, N.J. - June 9, 2011

Neighbors in Paterson alerted authorities after hearing several barking dogs.

Chief Animal Control Officer John DeCando told The Record newspaper the mom and pups were on the second floor with the sun beating down on them. DeCando says they would not have lived another day.

Authorities also removed five other adult dogs from the house.

The puppies will receive medical attention and be cared for by an animal rescue organization in Wayne until they're ready for adoption.

DeCando is trying to find the person who abandoned the dogs.
