Home invasion victim hits suspect with frying pan

NEW CASTLE, Del. - June 20, 2011

Police say about 4:50 a.m. Saturday, a man pushed an air conditioner into an apartment and climbed in the window. The man, who was armed with a sawed-off shotgun and was wearing a mask, struggled with one of the residents.

Other residents went to their roommate's aid. One struck the suspect several times with a frying pan and was able to get the shotgun away from him. Her roommates held the man until police came.

Twenty-four-year-old Nathan Boykin of Wilmington has been charged with assault, burglary, attempted robbery and other offenses.
