Coroner: Russian man killed in wrong-way Pa. crash

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - July 28, 2011

Northampton County Coroner Zachary Lysek says 21-year-old Evgeny Vinogradov, of St. Petersburg, was ejected from the car he was riding in when it collided with a tractor-trailer early Tuesday morning on Interstate 78.

Lysek says Vinogradov was a passenger in the car being driven by a friend when it went the wrong way on the interstate, striking a tractor-trailer that tried to swerve out of the way.

Both drivers were hospitalized after the crash. Police did not release their conditions or say why they believe one driver was going the wrong way.

Lysek says Vinogradov may have been studying in the area and had been visiting friends in Bethlehem.
