Del. man shocked after striking electric line

WILMINGTON - September 27, 2011

It happened around 12:15 p.m. at a home in the unit block of Hilton Road.

Rescue crews were called to the scene to find the 45-year-old homeowner on the ground.

According to police, the man was digging holes in the ground to plant flowers when he struck the line with his shovel.

The victim suffered hip pain and was transported to Christiana Hospital.

A Delmarva Power representative says the line was not one of theirs and that it was possibly installed by a private electrician.

Delmarva Power and New Castle County Police are investigating.
