Police: Not clear struck pedestrian was wanted man

EGG HARBOR TWP., N.J. - November 6, 2011

New Jersey State Police say 29-year old James Blasko of Brigantine was struck at about 4:30 p.m. along the Parkway just south of the Atlantic City Expressway.

Police say Blasko ran out of the woods and attempted to cross both lanes of travel.

Authorities say the driver of the striking vehicle could not stop in time to avoid collision. She was uninjured and stayed at the location.

Blasko was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Police indicated on Sunday that Blasko was wanted in an investigation earlier in the day. However, on Monday, police said they were not sure he is connected.

All southbound lanes were closed for one hour as police investigated the fatal accident.
