Tredyffrin Township Police Superintendent Andrew Chambers says he'll step down Dec. 30. The township supervisors announced Chambers' departure at a meeting Monday.
Chambers was suspended four days on Dec. 14 over a crash involving his 16-year-old son.
The supervisors said Chambers allowed the boy, who had learner's permit, to drive a police car on a closed course during a training course for emergency vehicle operators. An instructor who was in the car with the teen suffered a minor cut in the crash.
Supervisor Chairman Robert Lamina says Chambers' resignation had nothing to do with the crash.
