Pa. car salesman pleads guilty in fatal crash

LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) - January 17, 2012

Forty-nine-year-old Michael Hershey of Landisville pleaded guilty Tuesday in Lancaster County Court to homicide by vehicle, driving under the influence, and reckless endangerment.

Authorities said he had been drinking and was speeding when he hit an embankment in East Hempfield Township in December 2010, killing 48-year-old customer Jon Jensen and injuring the victim's son.

The (Lancaster) Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era says Hershey choked up at times as he answered questions and said he had an "alcohol problem."

County Judge James Cullen said he will serve at least a year and faces a maximum penalty of 14 years when he is sentenced March 14.
