The accident happened just before 4:00 a.m. Tuesday on the southbound lanes of Route 1, near Route 52 in Kennett Square.
Police say the driver may have been driving too fast when he lost control of the rig.
The truck was carrying a load of trash, which spilled onto the roadway. The accident also caused the vehicle to leak diesel fuel.
The road remains closed southbound at this time.
The driver was not seriously hurt.
