Police spokesman Gary Fournier said in a statement released Wednesday that 51-year-old Alkaben M. Patel and 61-year-old Mu Kesh K. Patel were arrested a day earlier on drug-related charges.
He says both are from Newark and were subsequently arraigned and released on unsecured bonds. He did not identify them further or specify any relation.
Fournier says detectives with the Kent County Drug Unit executed a search warrant and confiscated 24 individual packets of a synthetic cannabinoid called "Cloud 9" and more than $2,800 in suspected drug proceeds during their operation Tuesday.
He says the arrests capped a two-month investigation by law enforcement agents.
