The accident happened at approximately 2:07 p.m. on the 100 block of S. DuPont Highway (Route 13), south of Christiana Road.
Police say a 2005 Honda Accord operated by 67-year-old Chi Chin Wang of Wilmington was travelling southbound on S. DuPont Highway when a man exiting the parking lot of the Hollywood Motel walked into the right hand lane of the highway. The victim was then struck by the Honda and thrown into the roadway.
The victim, identified as 44-year-old Paul J. Molthen, Jr. of Orange, California, was transported to Christiana Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Chi Wang was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
