Driver injured in Route 40 crash in Del.

GLASGOW, Del. - March 23, 2012

It happened at 10:16 a.m. Friday on eastbound Route 40 at Cognac Court in Glasgow, Del.

Police say the 51-year-old driver lost control and slammed into a utility pole. The vehicle ended up on its side.

It took crews about 30 minutes to free the man from the wreckage. He was taken to Christiana Hospital in stable condition.

An investigation into what caused the driver to lose control is still underway.

Eastbound Route 40 was shut down between the Maryland state line and Frazer Road while crews worked to clear the scene. Both lanes have since reopened.
