3 charged in fatal NJ carjacking plead not guilty

MAYS LANDING, N.J. - May 31, 2012

Eighteen-year-old Raheem Simmons, 20-year-old Eric Darden and 21-year-old Phillip Byrd entered the pleas Thursday.

The three are accused of robbing 28-year-old Sunil Rattu and 24-year-old Radha Ghetia last September and forcing them to drive from the Trump Taj Mahal parking garage to an alley, where they were shot.

Rattu died from two gunshot wounds to the head, while Ghetia survived two shots in the upper body.

The fatal carjacking was the second in a little over a year that originated in the Taj Mahal garage.
