Police say 25-year-old Vanessa English, of Aloe Street in Galloway Township, died in the crash on Thursday morning.
The crash happened around 9:00 a.m. at the intersection of Route 30 (White Horse Pike) and Avenue A.
Galloway Police said, in the moments before the crash, they received several calls about an erratic driver in the eastbound lanes of Route 30.
That vehicle, a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire, crossed into the westbound lanes and struck the SUV, a 2011 Chevy Tahoe, which then overturned.
That Tahoe was owned by Atlantic County and was being driven by a member of the Atlantic County prosecutor's office.
English, the driver of the Sunfire, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Tahoe, Chief Darren Dooley of the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, was taken to the hospital. His family told police he is in stable condition with no life-threatening injuries.
Galloway Township Police and the New Jersey State Police are investigating this crash.
The roadway was shut down in the area as an investigation into this crash continues.
