Philadelphia cop bitten while making arrest

WEST PHILADELPHIA - June 22, 2012

The incident happened shortly after 9:00 a.m. at 57th and Media streets in West Philadelphia.

Officials say the officer was making a drug arrest when the suspect tried swallowing the drugs.

When the officer tried to retrieve the drugs, the suspect bit the officer's hand.

Police say a Taser had to be used to subdue the suspect before he was taken into custody.

The officer was treated at a nearby hospital.

The suspect remains in police custody. His name has not been released.
