The fire was reported at about 3:45 p.m. at the Friendly's located at 350 Dove Run Road in the Dove Run Shopping Center off of Route 299.
State Fire Investigators determined that the fire originated in the mulch on the exterior of the building and spread quickly to the roof of the structure.
Officials say the building is a complete loss and damage is estimated at $750,000.
No injuries were reported.
The restaurant was occupied at the time of the fire and patrons were evacuated by staff.
