Bystander bitten by police dog in Del.

CLAYMONT, Del. - June 29, 2012

It happened around 11:00 p.m. as 23-year-old Jorden Hyland walked home from work.

New Castle County Police were searching for robbery suspects on the 700 block of Montclair Drive.

Hyland, who is 8 months pregnant, said she sat down for a moment to rest and didn't notice the dog, or its handler, until it was too late.

"I wasn't doing anything wrong. I was sitting, I was minding my own business and the dog attacked me. I thought they only did that on command and if you were a suspect. I was just sitting there minding my own business," Hyland said.

Hyland was hospitalized that night, treated and released.

Police say the dog has been removed from service as the incident remains under review.
