Pa. man sentenced in car break-in shooting

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -August 3, 2012

Marqus Hill shot 18-year-old Irving Santana 13 times on a North Philadelphia street in September 2010.

Hill pleaded guilty in May to third-degree murder in the shooting. At his sentencing Thursday he was ordered to spend up to 20 years behind bars.

Hill's attorney had previously said he feared for his life because he thought one of the people breaking into his car had a gun.

Hill had a Florida concealed weapons permit despite being stripped of his Pennsylvania permit in 2006. An appeal of that decision was rejected in 2008 but a year later Hill received a permit in Florida that's honored in Pennsylvania.
