Dogs found in basement after North Phila. fire

NORTH PHILADELPHIA - September 4, 2012

The fire was reported at 11:00 a.m. in the 2500 block of North 18th Street near West Huntingdon Street.

When firefighters arrived they found a three story home with fire on the second floor.

Rescuers managed to remove an adult and two children, who were taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation.

Meanwhile, animal control officers were summoned after firefighters discovered the pit bull dogs in the basement.

None of the dogs were harmed in the fire.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
