The scare happened around 12 noon at the SEPTA building in Center City.
Officer Patrick Barr and Lieutenant Mike Gritsko found a man slumped over in the cafeteria.
The 60-year-old from Upper Darby had choked on a sandwich.
The pair cleared the crowd, and successfully performed the Heimlich maneuver.
Both officers were glad to help and humbly declined to be called heroes.
"I don't feel like a hero, just doing my job. It was very nice to see him doing well and I wish him a speedy recovery," said Ofc. Barr.
"When he was getting taken out on the stretcher, he took the oxygen mask off, said thank you, gave us a thumbs up and shook our hands," said Lt. Gritsko.
Meanwhile the man was taken to Jefferson Hospital as a precaution but it's said to be okay.
