The Attorney General says the investigation has been going on for three months and the videos and images of children allegedly being shared by the defendants are shocking.

The victims in those videos were both boys and girls, ranging in age from toddlers to 10 years old, police said.

"These videos show very young boys and girls being sexually molested, most by being subjected to ask of sexual penetration or being coerced into performing sexual acts onto others or themselves," New Jersey Attorney General Jeffrey Chisea said.

The 25 defendants arrested in "Operation Ever Vigilant" come from all over the state including South Jersey.

The suspects are not connected, investigators said, except for the fact they were sharing the same videos depicting child rape.

Officials say five of those arrested had direct contact with young children, including two who were regular babysitters

Most are out on bail, but police say 38-year-old Brent Ailiff of West Berlin remains jailed unable to make his $100,000 cash bail.

Investigators say he had hundreds of child pornography files stored on his computer.

"There's ways to check to see how these files are reviewed and evidence is gathered that links it's specifically to a machine and a person," New Jersey State Police Lieutenant Colonel Matt Wilson said.

Another of the accused is 43-year-old Duane Bell of Lawrence.

Action News knocked on his door today, but there was no answer.

His next-door neighbor says he saw State Police at Bell's home the other day, but had no idea Bell had anything to do with child pornography

"He's been a neighbor of ours for years now and he's always been a standup guy so it's totally shocking," neighbor James White said.

Detectives from the State Police Technology Investigation Unit surfed the web tracking the suspects, who had no idea they were sharing child rape images with police investigators

Some of the videos have been around for years, which police say continues to re-victimize the children.

"For me personally, it's thinking about those kids; that those kids are never going to be the same and those images and videos are out there forever," New Jersey State Police Detective Sgt. Steve Mazzagati said.

Most of the arrests were made during the week of February 18th following a three-month-long investigation.

"Anyone who views or distributes child pornography, particularly the type of rape videos targeted in this operation, puts himself in league with the predators who sexually assault children to create the videos," Chisea said.

Each man is charged with second-degree distribution of child porn and fourth-degree possession of child porn.
