Fairy Godmothers donate prom dresses for $10

CHELTENHAM TWP, Pa. - March 9, 2013

It was all thanks to the 13th annual Fairy Godmothers Gown Sale at the Cheltenham Mall.

"We have a lot more new gowns today and you saw the line, so we're ready," said Joyce Jesko.

In order to shop, each girl had to show her school ID. Then she was assigned a "Fairy Godmother" volunteer, like Sasha Nunez - Miss Teen Esperanza, as a personal shopper.

"It makes me feel really good. I can help people with their tone and everything. It's really fun," said Nunez.

The donated gowns came in a rainbow of colors and a range of sizes. Plus, shoppers could buy accessories, makeup and purses for just a few dollars more.

Shoppers, and their families, were grateful.

"I got accepted to college and it's a lot of money and I came here so I don't have to put a burden on my parents," said Brittany Hodges.

Shirley Lauchner brought her twin nieces to the sale after learning about it on Saving with 6abc on Thursday.

"When I saw this on the TV, I was so excited, because my sister went to look and they were starting at $600! For a couple of hours? No way!" said Lauchner.

The Fairy Godmothers made the sale both economical and magical as every girl's wish of looking beautiful for her prom was granted.

The sale continues at Cheltenham Mall on Saturday, March 16 from 10am-5pm and Saturday March 23 from 10am-2pm.
