Weather, repairs have kept I-81 unlined

HALLSTEAD, Pa. (AP) - April 4, 2013

A local television station reports motorists have complained about the lack of lines as they drive into Pennsylvania, saying it can be disorienting and confusing. Alaen Forest, of Quebec, says the lines help guide him when he's towing his camper and says, "if it's not marked, it's very difficult for me to travel."

PennDOT officials say the stretch of highway in Susquehanna County was under construction last fall and that temporary lines painted on the road didn't survive the winter. Now, well, it's still too cold for paint to properly stick to the pavement.

PennDOT plans to paint new lines once it warms up.
