TheReading Eagle says 27-year-old Grace Perez-Jimenez was sentenced Friday in federal court in Philadelphia. She pleaded guilty last summer to conspiracy, kidnapping, and drug and firearms charges.
Authorities said the defendant sold $500 worth of crack cocaine to a Reading resident but wasn't paid, so she and another woman kidnapped the customer's 14-year-old daughter in November 2011 as she walked home from school.
Police said she threatened the girl while brandishing a gun, but the pair later released the teenager unharmed after receiving $1,000 in ransom.
Co-defendant Samantha Conrad was sentenced in December to 7½ years. She said she regretted not protecting the girl.
