Man charged with exposing himself at University of Delaware

NEWARK, Del. - April 22, 2012

Newark and UD police said a man wearing a shirt but no pants was seen walking on Beverly Road Saturday night.

Officers arrived and saw the men, who ran away. Police caught the man when he tried to climb a fence.

Thirty-nine-year-old Jason W. Grubbs of Avondale, Pa. was arrested and charged with 13 counts of indecent exposure and numerous other offenses. He was charged in incidents dating to June 2011.

Police released the following synposis of the incidents for which Grubbs is being charged:

  • June 1st, 2011, 9:00pm: 27-year-old female was walking in the area of Townsend Hall on UD Campus when she observed a naked male following her, staying close to a wooded area. When she turned toward the subject, he fled into the wooded area and disappeared. (UDPD)

  • June 16th, 2011, 9:30pm: 40-year-old female was walking on South College Avenue adjacent to Townsend Hall when she observed a naked male in the wooded area on the UD Campus adjacent to South College Avenue. The victim fled the area on foot. (UDPD)

  • July 21st, 2011, 1:07pm: 23-year-old female was walking in front of Worrilow Hall on the UD Campus when she observed a naked male exposing himself. The victim fled towards Townsend Hall and the subject fled into the wooded area between Worrilow Hall and South College Avenue. (UDPD)

  • October 4th, 2011, 8:45pm: 21-year-old female was walking in front of Worrilow Hall on the UD Campus when she observed a naked male in the bushes between Worrilow Hall and South College Avenue. (UDPD)

  • December 1st, 2011, 10:46pm: 51-year-old female was walking on Chrysler Ave at Cornwall Drive when she observed a white male wearing a jacket but no pants. The male who was touching himself in a lewd manner continued to walk behind the female who then ran away. (NPD)

  • March 22nd, 2012, 9pm: 56-year-old female was walking in the 400 block of Nottingham Road when she observed a naked male standing in the front yard of a home. The subject then walked away and was last seen eastbound on Nottingham Road. (NPD)

  • March 22nd, 2012, 10:15pm: Two females, ages 18 and 19, were walking in the vicinity of Townsend Hall on the UD Campus when they observed naked male slapping his buttocks as he stood at the edge of the tree line between Townsend Hall and South College Avenue. The victims fled on foot. (UDPD)

  • April 15th, 2012, 8:55pm: 59-year-old female was walking in the 300 block of Wilson Road when she observed a naked male. The male fled between homes and was later seen fully clothed running to a vehicle parked at the intersection of Wilson and Cheltenham Roads. (NPD)

  • April 15th, 2012, 9:30pm: Two females, ages 35 and 48, were walking on the sidewalk in the 100 block of West Park Place when they observed a male hiding in the bushes in the side yard of a residence. The subject then dropped his pants and exposed his buttocks to the pair. He then fled on foot. (NPD)

  • June 21st, 2012, 10:05pm: 21-year-old female was walking in the 500 block of Nottingham Road when she observed a naked male walking through the front yards of homes. The male waved at the victim before fleeing behind trees. (NPD)

  • July 5th, 2012, 9:53pm: Three females, ages 43, 19, and 16 were walking southbound on South College Avenue adjacent to Worrilow Hall on the UD Campus when they observed a naked male standing in the tree line slapping his buttocks. The three fled on foot upon seeing the suspect. (UDPD)

  • July 19th, 2012, 12:05am: Two females, both 22 years of age, were walking in the unit block of Elkton Road when they observed a male subject standing with his pants down exposing his genitals. (NPD)

  • August 15th, 2012, 11:57pm: Subject captured on UDPD surveillance video removing clothing in the tree line between Townsend Hall and South College Avenue. (UDPD)

  • August 25th, 2012, 10:02pm: Two females, ages 23 and 24, were walking on the sidewalk of Orchard Road near West Park Place when they observed a naked white male walking behind them. The subject then fled on foot. (NPD)

  • October 4th, 2012, 12:53am: 19-year-old female was walking in the 200 block of South College Avenue when she observed a naked white male standing in bushes and slapping his buttocks. (NPD)

    Police say Grubbs was first arrested on 18 criminal charges stemming from 9 incidents in Newark Police Department jurisdiction. He was arraigned and released on $1800 unsecured bond.

    Grubbs was then turned over to the University of Delaware Police Department. He was arrested and arraigned on 16 additional charges stemming from 7 incidents on the UD campus. Grubbs was arraigned and released after posting $1600 secured bond.
