4 arrested in Dover bank robbery

DOVER, Del. - May 7, 2013

The incident happened around 1:30 p.m. when two male suspects armed with handguns entered the M and T Bank located on the corner of East Lebanon Road and South State Street.

Police say, the suspects demanded money from the bank tellers who gave them an unknown amount of cash and then they fled on foot south of South State Street.

A description of the robbers was broadcast over police radio and that's when a trooper in the area noticed the suspects getting into a silver car on Richardson Circle.

The trooper approached the suspects and one of them tried to flee but was taken into custody along with the stolen bag of cash and a loaded .22 caliber handgun. He was identified as 30-year-old Larry J. Pierce from Dover.

The trooper then broadcast a description of the suspect's vehicle which fled the area.

Other troopers in the area were able to locate the car traveling southbound on South State Street and conducted a traffic stop on Cool Springs Road.

Another male suspect, identified as 30-year-old Phillip Yates from Dover, attempted to flee on foot and was quickly taken into custody by a responding trooper.

The driver of the car was identified as 26-year-old Vanessa Singletary of Suffolk, Virginia and her passenger, 25-year-old Dashunda Harmon of Milton, Delaware were into custody without incident.

Police say a search of the car revealed a loaded .32 caliber handgun in the back seat where Yates was seen exiting and over 50 grams of marijuana was found in the vehicle.
