Black bear spotted several times in Moorestown, New Jersey

MOORESTOWN, N.J. - May 29, 2013

A black bear has been spotted a number of times since Memorial Day, and even got his picture taken while swimming in a lake!

A policeman snapped the picture of the bear swimming in Strawbridge Lake on Tuesday.

The first sighting in Moorestown came mid-day on Monday. Tuesday brought multiple reports, and finally one early Wednesday.

The bear seems to be moving along the lake and now onto Pennsauken Creek.

"They seem to favor watershed areas. It's more secluded for them. They don't have to have contact with people, and it's also a food source," said Moorestown Township Police Lieutenant Lee Lieber.

There is no official search. The hope is, if bear and people behave there will be no need to intervene.

Is this bear the same one spotted around central Bucks County earlier this month?

Bears have been known to swim the Delaware.

If it's not the same bear, they seem to be on similar missions. It's not just the birds and the bees who are in the mood, it seems.

"Looking for a date? Spring? Love is in the air," said Tara Powell of Moorestown. "He just wants to find some love, I guess. Nothing like looking for love in all the wrong places."
