Forty-three-year-old Robert Hohn was sentenced to six years in prison; his wife, 41-year-old Shannon Watterson, was sentenced to five years Friday in Superior Court in Wilmington.
The couple had pleaded guilty to assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
Prosecutors say Hohn and Watterson removed the boy from school in September 2012 and said they would be home-schooling him. Authorities say the couple locked him in a bare room, letting him out only to use the bathroom.
The boy escaped to a neighbor's home on Nov. 28, 2012.
The boy and three other children who lived in the home are in the care of relatives.
